AP stands second in India in terms of producing the number of medical
graduates. With the MCI adding 700 more MBBS seats this year, the number
of MBBS seats in AP is now 6,350. Karnataka has 6,755 seats.
AP also has the second highest num ber of medical colleges in the private sector at 28. There are 15 more govern ment colleges.
The
state is expect ed to achieve the top slot by next year with the state
set to approve a few more medical colleges in private sector.
The
government has set a target to secure an additional 1,000 MBBS seats
next year by improving infrastructure and faculty in existing government
medical colleges besides approving new colleges.
